SQUIRRELS hide nuts and pine cones to eat. They also like to visit bird feeders. They stay in their dens for very cold days and nibble on the food they have stored. | |
BEAVERS spend the winter in their lodges, which have entrances below the frozen surface so they can leave the lodge. They store branches ( from aspens ) a short swim away from the lodge. If the pond freezes all the way to the bottom, beavers may become trapped in their lodges and starve. |
